The
current Town Hall was restored in
1985 to accommodate staff serving a
population of 32,000 in Milton. With
a rapidly growing community, an
approved Town Hall Expansion plan
(formerly Civic Facilities
Feasibility Study) is now being put
into action. The Ventin Group will
design the expansion and renovations
for Town Hall Victoria Park.
Starting in 2006, the first phase of
expansion will take place, with the
second phase of construction
scheduled for 2013. The facilities
adjacent to the existing Town Hall,
including 155 King Street, 48 Hugh
Street and facilities on Mary Street
adjacent to Victoria Park Square,
are being reviewed as the design is
being finalized.
To
maintain Milton Council's goal of
uninterrupted customer service
delivery during the construction of
Phase I, transitional arrangements
for staff are now underway. On June
3, 2005 the Town took possession of
555 Industrial Drive, located west
of Bronte St. and north of Steeles
Avenue to implement transitional
staffing arrangements for some Town
staff during the expansion
construction. The Staff Transitional
Plan included the relocation of
staff from Engineering Services,
Planning & Development and Community
Services to the first floor at 555
Industrial Drive, occupying up to
24,000 square feet. These
departments relocated to 555
Industrial Drive, now known as Town
Hall Annex 555, at the end of August
2005.
